- Focus on basics first and only then details. A person was caught after many years of successful robberies and theft. When asked why was he so successful in committing these crimes, he replied, 'I always go where the money is.' Mentally tough people stay focused on developing the essential skills. Never drifting aloof or beating around the bush. But coming directly to the point. No point in learning about how many years ago did frogs arrive on earth, if you don't know the definition of evolution. Got what I am saying?
- Don't control what you can't. They never waste time, energy and resources in factors which are simply beyond their control or are extremely unpredictable.
- Vicarious learning. Learning from mistakes of others, facing similar circumstances. You won't live long enough to make all the mistakes by yourself nor can you afford to make the same mistakes again and again. So, learn from as many sources as possible and learn fast.
- Always in control. Having all the power with themselves, without devolving it to anyone else. Means that being in charge all the time. And not being made vulnerable by others.
- Maximum overlap between reality and perception of reality.Neither being pessimistic nor optimistic. Always being pragmatist and realist. It is very easy to be carried away by what ought to be than what is. Knowing what is real, how our world actually works and aligning your thought process with that, is a hallmark of being mentally strong.
- Whenever you're in the process of making a "huge life decision", remember that a) you're probably overstating the ramifications the decision will have on your life, and b) the worst-case scenario is NEVER as bad as you might initially think. So with that being said, make some big bets on your life path, take some big risks, and go for the gold.
- Set just one new goal for each day, when you wake up, to take just one step forward in some direction that matters to you. This could be career, personal, academic, health, whatever. Just take one new step forward, in some direction, every single day. You will be surprised how fast the steps add up.
Listen to Audiobooks!
Audiobooks are one of the greatest self-improvement and personal transformational technology in the world.
Why?
Audiobooks allow you to learn using NET time — No Extra Time.
This means all the minutes and hours that you spend mindlessly doing chores such as driving, cooking, cleaning or anything else, now can be spent massively learning and sculpting your mind.
Audiobooks are also great ways to passively learn. Meaning, your brain can subconsciously learn things while your conscious mind is doing other things.
Audiobooks also allow you to experience the human voice, with it's full emotional intensity. This allows the information you learn to resonate much more strongly with you and you learn faster.
Overall, I found Audiobook listening to the be the single greatest habit that I started and I can't imagine my life without it.
My favorite service for this is Audible

You can thank me in five years!
http://www.quora.com/Mohammed-Kabbani- Write 5 reasons why you are grateful everyday before you sleep
- Get used to rejections and you will be unstoppable
- Be selfish - sometimes. This may sound contradictory, but hear me out. Sometimes you just need to ignore everyone else, and step away from the world for you. Go on that ski trip. Get yourself those shoes. That might sound vain, but you know what, if you don't have a healthy mind and a healthy body then how will you help others to do so?
- Don't hold grudges. Do not harbor hate. It takes a lot of energy to be
mad at people so don't bother. Just let things go. And if someone
continues to inspire these bad feelings in you, then let them go. It's
that simple.
Get rid of excess baggage. This covers items you don't need, habits that are distractions, friends who you will not miss, hobbies that absorb your resources. - Don’t make elaborate plans for the distant future. Doing so is generally a waste of time and energy, since the future carries far too many unknowns. Set a general course, or direction, and then focus on the opportunities that are in front of you now.
